rejection like lake michigan.

chicago! i am in chicago.

it's funny, when you go to a new city and don't know anyone. i think, "oh, i will call this person!" & then you realise they live in boston, so you say, "oh, i will call this person!" & then you realise that they live in pittsburgh, so you say, "oh, i will call this person!" & then you realise they are either in mexico or finland or new york, all of which seem much too far away, so you go and get lunch at a nice cafe by yourself, because it is better than being on the internet. (i am obviously not great at being alone).

there are alot of good things about this city. #1, there is an open mic every night of the week (multiple ones, actually) and through those i'm booking shows and meeting lovely people, alot of whom are also new to this city. #2, the transportation is perfect & i've missed the train more than i'd realised while in pittsburgh. busses just don't cut it. #3, i got an adapter for my keyboard, finally, which means i'm using it at shows and practising and all the rest. it is yet to have a name, but i'm sure it will get one soon, as most of my prized inanimate objects do.

there are two bad things about this city. #1, not having a job makes for huge gaps of time and energy and hope. and money. but it will all work out. #2, i am way too sunburned.
